Electrics and communications
Our client approached us late in 2019, ahead of the pandemic. He was looking to work from home due to structural business changes from his employer. At that stage, he really liked what we could offer but couldn't find anything to work within his price range.
After the design of our new small Jay Garden Offices in the early part of lockdown, we approached this client with this new, more cost-effective option and he found a size that worked perfectly for him within his budget.
We installed one of our Jay Garden Offices which was 2.9m wide and 2.5m deep. It included the felt roof with a 5-year guarantee with a door to the right and a window to the left.
The unique situation of this project was the groundwork. There was a retaining wall that we needed to straddle. We achieved this with longer steel within the base and after the building was installed we followed this with electrics and communications. These were hardwired to the house for a robust connection. This allowed the customer to run their business from the garden effectively.
'In 2020, my contract was changed to home working following the closure of my local site. With a young family and no spare room, it was quickly apparent that working from home would be tough to sustain on a long-term basis. I looked into several options for building a workspace in the garden and Bakers Garden Buildings stood out as the best option for me. I was immediately impressed by their professional and honest approach, the quality feel to their buildings and the offer to completely manage the project from quote to completion.
I opted for a Jay Garden Office and was provided with a clear build plan with estimated dates. Communication was clear throughout and the build was completed as planned without any effort from my end. The hardest thing was choosing the colour of the flooring! Having a garden office and being able to separate work and home life has been an absolute game-changer for me and my family. The Jay Garden Office has provided a perfect workspace that has been comfortable all year round and allowed me to focus on my work without the distractions that a busy home can bring, and my family can resume business as usual without worrying about interrupting me.'
