The Project
Our clients wanted to add a poolside room to their garden, complementing the existing pool. Their primary goal was seamless integration with both the pool and surrounding landscape, while also ensuring ample space for a large, year-round sauna. Given the presence of both a pool and sauna, incorporating a shower was highly beneficial. However, drainage challenges required an alternative to a standard indoor shower. Privacy and cohesive integration with the pool were also key considerations.
The Work
We constructed a bespoke 6.2m x 3.5m room with a steel and timber frame base to accommodate the uneven paving. Decking was extended to the pool's edge for seamless integration. The building featured a blank front section for an outdoor shower, using a Soaka way to address drainage concerns. A hot water electric immersion system with a blend valve ensured the perfect shower temperature year-round, despite limited power.
Bifolding doors and an inline sliding door create openings on two sides, seamlessly connecting the room to the garden and pool. Integrated blinds in all doors and windows provide privacy when needed. The room is fully equipped with electrical wiring, a freshwater supply for the shower, and internet connectivity, allowing remote control of the sauna and lighting via an app. Additionally, the clients enhanced the space with decking and landscaped steps to the side of the building. Falcon Pools assisted with the outdoor shower installation and fitted a Harvia sauna.
The Results
This project was our first with an outdoor shower, and it proved to be a great addition to the poolside sauna experience! Extending the decking, adding landscape steps, and incorporating large openings created excellent integration. The Harvia sauna is a perfect fit and really enhances the clients' enjoyment of their property. We are delighted with the outcome and are already working on another project with an outdoor shower!
